The Laws

Deep Green Spirituality and Spiritual Ecology are at the core of my being. From my early reading of essays by Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, combined with the radical thinking of Ivan Illich and the philosophy of Lao Tsu, my path has led me to green activism driven by a reverence to nature, and an understanding that we are part of nature.

One of the leading thinkers of our time is John Michael Greer whose blogs The Archdruid Report and The Well of Galabes are essential reading for any Green Warrior Mage.

Understanding the laws that underpin life and nature ensures that our work is founded in a frame of reference that is cohesive, clear and true. While there are doubtless other frameworks for spiritual ecology, JMG’s is a great starting point.

He sets out seven laws of spiritual ecology:

  • The Law of Wholeness
  • The Law of Flow
  • The Law of Balance
  • The Law of Limits
  • The Law of Cause and Effect
  • The Law of the Planes
  • The Law of Evolution

Understanding the laws is essential for any budding Green Warrior Mage and I am grateful to John Michael Greer for setting them out so well in his “Mystery Teachings from the Living Earth” – available here from the evil Amazonian empire…

It would make sense to explore them over the coming weeks in some depth, relating them to the dragons that cross each of these laws, magic which resonates through cause and effect and the law of planes, and how these laws can be applied to our warrior activist work.
